05/16/11 - Major GRIP Announcement! Hey we're happy to finally announce the arrival of David Faulkner on Bass. David has been writing and playing out with us for a few months and we like him so much we didn't want to jinx it by announcing him. LOL!! David brings over 30 years of experience with him. He has played with Atlanta Icon Rick Richards, blues and R&B legend Lottsa Poppa for 10 years, Bobby Rush, Chick Willis, Willie Hill, Lenny Willams of Tower of Power, Bobby '"Blue" Bland, Francene Reed, Bob Seager, The Allman Bros. and so on and so on, over a thousand gigs! He has extensive studio and sound experience, his influences are Victor Wooten, James Jamerson., Willy Weeks, Will Lee and Motown, R&B! He has 2 daughters and is married to love of his life Lindsay.
03/17/11 - WOW there has been lots of progress with the new Originals. We wrote quite a few and settled in on 5 that we really liked, Trash, Little Blue Jeans, Ride The Wind, Chrome Diggers and Little Prisons. These songs compliment the other songs we have been playing since 2010, Eve Got Adam, Daddy's Shotgun, focus, Believe and of course Southern Boyz. There is also a remake of one of Chip's songs called Alana. We are playing them all when we play out so come on out and let us know what you think? We'll have a NEW announcement later this week!

01/21/11 - Another very productive song writing session last night with Troy. Maybe we should dub these the The Crown recordings? We finished up our new one Trash. I found a little diamond riff in our Troy's creative riff dump recordings and it fit perfectly (with a little modification help from Bill). We also finished the structure on Ride The Wind, which I think will be THE sleeper song, I really like it.
01/19/11 - We're is SUPER excited to announce that our Original brainstorm songwriting voyage on The Ship is complete! We have 15 Original tunes we are very proud of and only 8-10 will make the cut for the LP. Sailing into bootcamp to get them ready for the studio. Girls are dancin' and cryin', that always a great sign!
12/08/10 - OK it's happened again! Players in Marietta talked us out of breaking anchor on The Ship! We'll play January 7th for TJ and the gang before hitting the high seas until March or April!
11/29/10 - We had cancelled all remaining shows for 2010 to get on The Ship (our studio) and start writing and recording but the Spotlight twisted our arm and we will do our last show of 2010 this weeeknd. Should be fun! Tom's Place is moving so the December 16th show has been postponed till he gets into his new place! Have a great Holiday and we will see you again in 2011 with brand new Originals and covers! We hope to have our demo out by March 2011!

7/01/10 -Very pleased to announce that Comedian 'One Take Willie ' will be performing at our Little River Grill gig on July 17th. One Take Willie has performed on Comedy Central and the Animal Planet!
7/01/10 - Bringing down a gal from Nashville do do the backups for Eve Got Adam as well as some local girls, should be cutting that next week.
6/21/10 - Chip got his lead vocals laid down on Eve Got Adam. We'll be going back in this week to lay down some fills, piano, and backup vocals and should hopefuly start mixing next week. All of the new originals and covers went over great this past weekend at LRG, Eve Got Adam, L.A., and focus. The band is currently working on 4 new originals as well, should be playing them by our nexy gig at Little River July 17th!
6/10/10 - GRIP is making good progress on their recording of Eve Got Adam! Chip just needs to lay down his vocals, a few more backing tracks and it will be ready to go to Mixing. GRIP is pleased to be playing July 30th at the Gwinnett Braves complex, 5-7:00pm before the game!

As GRIP celebrates it's 4 year anniversary this week, you may or may not have heard GRIP has lost Chuck, Mitch and Ross. It's a sad day in GRIPLAND on one hand, liberating on the other. They decided that they didn't want to pursue Original songs, nor stand in the way of my goals and that's OK and appreciated. People and minds change but the vision of GRIP was, is, and will always be great Covers and Original material.
I have enjoyed playing with each and everyone of them and there is no doubt that without their combined efforts GRIP wouldn't be where it is today. Along with the contributions of Dave Sams, Doug Mowery,and Jeff Brashears, ALL talented musicians and great showmen! Please support these guys in all of their future projects!

Hi Folks we hope everyone is having a great 2010 so far!!
As GRIP get's ready to celebrate our 4th Anniversary in February we wanted to give you an update in 2010.
We are very proud that we accomplished all of our goals last year ! We put out our single Southern Boyz which was a lot of fun recording with Stuart Settles and Kim Kirkwood. Got to play with Steve Stone from Atlanta Rhythm Section (he played Cowbell on it) had the song mastered by Rodney Mills of Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special Fame. We played the Daytona Spring Bike Rally at Full Moon Saloon, Cowboy's, Wild Bills, Wild Wing Alpharetta, Rumble on Noble, Bama Bike Fest, Atlanta Motor Speedway as well as the Spring and Fall Thunder Beach Rally at the Boardwalk Beach Resort in our usual timeslot right after the Ms. Thunder Beach Finale, and many places in between.
We scheduled some time off in December for Ross to get his shoulder fixed from his motorcycle accident. He wasn't able to get it so he's still hurting. Then Chip got Pnuemonia and we had to cancel some shows (first ever). We took the holidays off and finished our new Studio (The Ship) Yes, it all rhymns. We will be playing through a Jamhub Tourbus which allows us to all hear eachother mixed perfectly. We will be working on becoming even tighter musically and our vocals and harmonies should really take off! We will start writing some new material on top of the new stuff cover and original that we have been working on.
GRIP gave back and played quite a few Benefits last year, Biker's for Boobs, MDA, St Judes, Calvin Price and for our Veterans and have been invited to open a benefit at Peachtree Tavern on Feb 13 for Lana Turner whom is the daughter of Brit Turner of Black Berry Smoke. Lana has stage 4 cancer and she and her family are in need of some community support. GRIP will open the show and the guys graciously agreed to supply the back line for all the guests appearing to raise money. Kevin Kinney and Drivin and Cryin, Jesse James Dupree from Jackyl, Ric Richards from The Georgia Satelittes, Katy Kiely, and many more. This is a great cause and one we are very proud to be involved in. Tickets are $15 and benefit Lana directly.
We have set some goals for some other shows around the Southeast (if we can find the holes in our schedule) and will be working towards accomplishing them as well as throwing on even more new originals, covers, a new website and new GRIP Merch. We went from being virtually unbooked in 2010 to being almost completely booked in less than two weeks. We only have about 5 open slot's left for the year. Thanks to all of you!
We booked a year of shows at Little River Grill and are really looking forward to some great lakeside parties and Summer fun. Tom's Place in Cartersville is moving one exit up to 296 Cassville/White Rd to the America's Best Inn. The bar is HUGE complete with a concert room and a pool! It is going to be Crazy and a lot of FUN like it always has been but even BIGGER! We'll back at Thunder Beach maybe at some new venues, as well as Boardwalk, Black Diamond Grill and Spotlight Saloon in Hiram...be sure to check our schedule at griptheband.com. NEXT SHOW: Black Diamond Grill this Saturday Night!
Tami McCain did our GRIP modeling last year and came in 2nd runner up in the Ms. Thunder Beach contest. Tami was super enthusiastic and really worked hard!! She even publicly arrested the Mayor of Anniston at Rumble On Noble!

12.05.09 - Where's GRIP?
Hi Folks! We're still here. We had blocked out some time in November and December for Ross to get surgery on his shoulder and never filled in the hole when he elected not to have it. Chip got Pnuemonia in November and that resulted in a cancelled show.
We are busy setting our goals for 2010 and in the process of setting up a new practice studio at Chip's House that should be completed before Christmas. We will be working on some new cover and Original songs and changing up the show a bit. There are some exciting recording sessions coming up in 2010 so we will be working towards those, enjoying some time off with our families and should be back up and running in January so check back often!
We are proud to say that we accomplished all the goals we had set for 2009. Releasing Southern Boyz, playing Daytona Bike Week, Wild Bills, Cowboys, Bama Fest, Rumble, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Wild Wings and others. We did a lot of out of town stuff and are planning on sticking a little closer to home in 2010.
We want to thank everyone who has supported us in 2009 and we look forward to playing again for you soon, we think you'll like the new tunz!!

09.04.08 - GRIP this Breaking News! GRIP Drummer Ross Nuckolls was involved in a motorcycle accident Friday night when three deer ran in front of him. Luckily Ross and his Harley won but not without lots of bumps, bruises and a totalled bike. After striking the deer Ross was able to manuever his bike to the side of the road before laying it down. From what Chuck reported the front tire and an engine guard are now under the bike, the fairing ripped off. Ross said Sunday morning, "I feel like I jumped out of a plane without a parachute". Thank goodness Ross is OK and nothing is broken or worse. It's a reminder to all riders to be extremely careful on these beautiful Georgia country roads at all times! 08.31.08 -We wanted to GRIP everyone and thank for your support and dedication over the few weeks in Anniston, Al., Lorena's, Copperhead and Little River! It really means alot to us and as always we really aprreciate all the kind comments and encouragement. 08.27.08 -GRIP is very BUMMED to inform you that The Doubleshot Saloon in Cumming, GA. has closed...possibly for good. So our Sept. 5th and 6th gig has been cancelled. We loved that Ol' Smelly Honky Tonk Roadhouse and all the great people and great times we've had there! Luckily we do have shows scheduled closein 2008 at Lorena's in Dawsonville including Haloween and New Years! So join us in Two Shots for the Doubleshot Saloon! We really enjoyed playing the Full Throttle Magazine Bike Night and Bikini Contest with Cajun Karen, Willie and Jay for the past year and half! We met so many wonderful folks and hope to see youall out and about Woodtsock and Canton!
